LOS ANGELES, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The mayor of San Francisco on Tuesday
unveiled a new plan under which the city would provide universal health care for
all adult residents, according to reports reaching here.
Under the plan, which needs to be approved by the city's Board of
Supervisors, all adult residents would get proper health care, regardless of
their immigration or employment status.
Unlike health insurance, the plan covers only the cost of medical services
its participants seek inside the city and it does not include people who work,
but do not live in the city.
The estimated cost of the plan is 200 million dollars a year, which would
be shared by taxpayers, businesses that do not already insure all their workers.
