BEIJING, June 19 -- Trains will be able to run at 100 kilometers per hour on the newly built Qinghai-Tibet railway in western China, the highest speed on frozen soil in the world.

The two thousand kilometers' route stretches across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with another record length of 550 kilometers on frozen soil.

Railways built on frozen soil are considered vulnerable to dangerous natural conditions and other trains have only reached speeds of 70 kilometers per hour.
