Annan urges Iran to accept new package

     HELSINKI, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Visiting UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Sunday urged Iran to pursue a diplomatic solution to its nuclear program and accept the new international package.

    Annan made the remarks after meeting with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

    Annan said that the international community and Iran now have an opportunity to really move ahead and solve this issue diplomatically. He urged Iran to take the offer seriously and respond soon.

    The package, drawn up the United States, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China, was presented to Tehran on June 6. Enditem
