Bird flu case detected in Canada

    OTTAWA, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Canada has detected a case of H5 avian flu in the eastern province of Prince Edward Island and further testing will be conducted to determine the strain and virulency, a provincial health officer announced on Friday.

    A gosling was founded to have contracted the disease in a small backyard poultry flock in the province, local chief health officer said in a news release.

    The virulent H5N1 strain of avian flu virus has not yet been found in North or South America. Enditem
