MOSCOW, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Law enforcers of the Group of Eight (G8) agreed
on Friday to step up joint efforts in fighting terrorism, Russian Interior
Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said.
"The case in point is foremost new manifestations of terrorism, such as
radicalization, recruiting and striving toward possession of biotechnologies and
weapons of mass destruction," Nurgaliyev was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency
as saying at a press conference after a meeting of G8 law enforcers in Moscow.
"Special attention should be paid to ensuring antiterrorist protection of
transport, key infrastructures and means of communications," he said.
At the meeting on Thursday and Friday, the G8 law enforcers discussed the combat
against terrorism, cyber crime and illegal migration.
According to Nurgaliyev, the G8 interior and justice ministers and
attorney-generals reached consensus that the G8 countries needed a more
effective anti-terror strategy.
"The conference approved Moscow's hosting a global forum on state-business
partnership in counteracting terrorism in November," Nurgaliyev added. Enditem
