BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- China hopes Sri Lanka could realize national peace and stability as soon as possible, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu Friday.
Jiang made the remarks when asked to comment on the Sri Lanka's bus blast that happened Thursday.
"As a friendly neighbor of Sri Lanka, China hopes the country could achieve peace and stability at an early date," she said.
China supports the Sri Lankan government's positive efforts to promote national stability, ethnic reconciliation and economic development, the spokeswoman said.

COLOMBO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Fifty eight civilians were killed and 45 were injured in a bomb explosion which hit a passenger bus in Sri Lanka's North Central Province Thursday morning, said the military.
A claymore mine blast carried out by suspected Tamil Tiger rebels hit the bus at around 7:45 a.m. local time (0215 GMT) at Viharahalmillewa, a rural area about 250 km north of Colombo, military spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe said.
The powerful explosion had thrown the bus off the road to a distance of about 20 meters, said the military in a statement, adding that the passengers included school children. Full story
