JAKARTA, June 16 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale
rocked the Indonesian province of Gorontalo at 10:56 a.m. on Friday, but
there was no immediate report of casualty or material damage.
The quake's epicenter was located in the West Sulawesi Sea at adepth of 61
km, Antara news agency quoted head of the Gorontalo Meteorology Station
Kisnobudi as saying.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where the meeting of
continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter Scale rattled Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces on May 27, killing more than 5,800 people. Enditem
