JAKARTA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will monitor the newly freed Muslim
militant cleric Abu Bakar Ba'ashir, when he gave sermon, police spokesman said
Wednesday.
"Ba'ashir, his sermon will be monitored," said spokesman Anton Bachrul
Alam.
He said that the control would be conducted through the communities, such
as the head of the area.
However, he rejected that the police would send spy to supervise the
cleric.
Indonesian Security Chief Minister Widodo Adi Sucipto has said that the
authorities may take a certain move on Ba'ashir for security reason.
The 68-year-old cleric was released Wednesday morning after spending 26
months in jail for a conspiracy in the Bali bombings in 2002, which killed more
than 200 people, mostly Australian holiday makers.
He is seen by the West as the spiritual head of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI)
regional militant network.
Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Right Hamid Awaluddin has said
that so far there was no any party that was concerned on the release of the
cleric, who had got amnesty several times. Enditem
