LONDON, June 13 (Xinhua) -- A high-profile delegation of London film and media
businesses together with key members of the British film industry is set to
visit Shanghai, China from June 14 to 20.
The delegation, said a press issued on Tuesday by Film London, the capital's
film and media agency, is to meet potential business contacts and
investors and to participate in a cultural exchange between the two cities.
Seven London-based film and media businesses, namely Kai Computer Services, Fresh
Paint Pictures, Mangonoir Films, Ealing Studios, Silk and Steel Productions,
Starfield Productions and Minh Productions as well as film makers including
Pinewood Studios, Cinesite Europe, will join representatives from Film

The trade mission, which is the first of its kind, will incorporate visits

briefing sessions by British Embassy commercial staff and a Cass Business
School/Film Business Academy seminar. The delegation is expected to participate
in an official China-European co-production forum and visit the Shanghai

Council, is also hosting a dedicated strand of films, "London on Screen", which
will feature an Anthony Minghella retrospective as well as London-shot films
Closer, Match Point, All or Nothing and The Libertine, and the first selection
of shorts ever to be screened at the festival, all produced in and featuring
London.
"Shanghai is one of the great international film cities. We are confident
this mission will provide the opportunity to discuss real cooperation on a range
of commercial initiatives and forge long-term educational and cultural links
that will have great benefit to the capital's industry," said Adrian Wootton,
CEO of Film London.
Martin Cook, International Trade Director for UKTI London, which is funding the
official delegation, said: "UKTI is serious about helping British companies trade
in China one of the fastest growing markets in the world. This visit will
help London film-makers and companies to tap into the huge trade and investment
opportunities that China can offer."
The trade mission is supported by UK Trade and
Investment, the London Development Agency through Creative London, and the Mayor
of London. Enditem
