JAKARTA, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The financial loss from the May 27devastating earthquake in Central Java and Yogyakarta is estimated at 29.2 trillion rupiah (around 3.1 billion U.S. dollars), an Indonesian official said Tuesday.
However, the government has not determined the fund needed for the post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation in the affected areas as the damage assessment has not been finalized yet, according to State Minister for National Development Planning Paskah Suzetta.
"We hope to finalize the assessment as soon as possible because rehabilitation and reconstruction program will commence in July," he was quoted by the Detikcom news website as saying.
The magnitude-5.9 quake killed more than 5,800 people and injured some 20,000 others. It also displaced around half a million people in the two provinces. Enditem
