KUWAIT CITY, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti authorities have tightened
security measures along the northern border with Iraq to prevent al-Qaida
supporters to enter Iraq following the death of the terror group's leader there
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, local newspaper Kuwait Times reported on Sunday.
The report said that the security measures were taken in anticipation of
Zarqawi's supporters who might try to enter Iraq from northern Kuwait in order
to avenge Zarqawi's killing.
Meanwhile, Sayid Mohamed Baqer Al-Mahrit, an eminent Kuwaiti Shiite
scholar, attacked those who felt sorry for the death of Zarqawi in Kuwait and
called on the authorities to fight promoters of terrorism.
The Jordanian-born Zarqawi, the most wanted man in Iraq, was killed in a
U.S. air raid on an area north of Baghdad on Wednesday evening.
He is believed to be the head of the al-Qaida group in Iraq, which has
claimed responsibility for some of the bloodiest attacks in the violence-plagued
country. Enditem
