Report: Al-Qaida's chief Zarqawi
killed
TEHRAN, June 11
(Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said on Sunday that his
country was happy to seeal-Qaida leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's
death.
"It is natural that we feel happy about his death, just like the Iraqi people," Asefi told reporters in his weekly news conference in the first official response to the killing of Zarqawi in a U.S. airstrike north of Baghdad on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the spokesman dismissed a rumor that Iran had provided intelligence for the U.S. military to locate the most wanted insurgent in Iraq.
"It doesn't mean that we have cooperate with the U.S. to find him, we have not exchanged any intelligence with the U.S.,"stressed Asefi. Enditem
