LONDON, June 9 (Xinhua) -- It is the first day practice session here the Silverstone British Grand Prix, world champion Pernando Alonso finished 7th and Michael Schumacher was further back.

    BMW Sauber third driver Robert Kubica headed Friday afternoon's practice session for the British Grand Prix, lapping his F1.06 in 1m 21.082 seconds to run well ahead of his closest pursuer.

    Giancarlo Fisichella, who had an adventurous afternoon on his way to 1 minute 22.294 seconds, finished second. The Italian's Renault snapped suddenly away from him at Stowe on one lap, and later he went off again at Club. And, for once, team mate Fernando Alonso also erred. The world champion went off at Copse, and ended the afternoon seventh on 1 minute 22.603 second.

    They were separated by Alexander Wurz, again running strongly for 1 minute 22.300 seconds for Williams; Anthony Davidson who lapped his Honda in 1:22.310; Jarno Trulli who was again close to the front for Toyota with 1:22.437; and Felipe Massa, who took his Ferrari round in 1:22.476.

    Michael Schumacher was eighth on 1:22.825, but again spun his Ferrari on the entry to Bridge corner.

    Williams'Mark Webber was ninth on 1:23.099, with Rubens Barrichello pushing his Honda to 1:23.104 to pip Toyota's Ralf Schumacher (1:23.114), Red Bull's Robert Doornbos (1:23.140), Midland's Tiago Monteiro (1:23.194) and Juan Pablo Montoya (1:23.199) in the McLaren. Enditem
