BEIJING, June 9 -- The public will have a chance to see the planning models of both World Expo 2010 and 2008 Olympic Games during a 3-day international architectural design exhibition that is to open on Sunday, the exhibition organizers said Thursday.
Planning of the World Expo site has undergone several revisions since 2002 when China was selected to host the world fair.
"The final plan of the World Expo will be displayed during the exhibition," said Guo Feng, general manager of Shanghai Xinjian Exhibition Service Company - which manages the show.
Called 2006 China (Shanghai) Architectural Design and Urban Planning Exhibition, the event will be held at ShanghaiMart at 99 Xingyi Road.
The exhibition draws participants from nearly 100 design and architectural firms and academic groups at home and abroad including from the US, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, France and Canada.
The Shanghai-based Tongji University, a chief designer of World Expo, will display the World Expo site during the exhibition.
The World Expo 2010 will be held in a total area of 5.28 square kilometers at the waterfront area on both sides of the Huangpu River.
Models of signature buildings of the Beijing 2008 Olympics also will be shown.
One of the key infrastructure projects to be displayed is the stations and route of the future Maglev line linking Shanghai with Hangzhou, capital of neighboring Zhejiang Province, according to Guo.
Another highlight of the exhibition will be some of the historic buildings within the Expo site including the century-old Jiangnan Shipyard.
