Pakistan says Zarqawi's death a "significant development"

    ISLAMABAD, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Thursday described as a "significant development" the killing of al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq.

    "It is a significant development and we hope that the situation would improve after the incident,"  Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam told the GEO TV.

    She did not make more comments.

    Al-Zarqawi was killed Wednesday night by a U.S. air strike in an area northeast of Baghdad, said reports reaching here, quoting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Enditem
