June 7 (Xinhua) -- The General Administration of Civil Aviation (CAAC) signed a
memorandum of understanding with Britain-based Rolls Royce on a 10-year staff
training plan on Wednesday afternoon.
The British aeroengine giant will help train officials from
the CAAC and senior managers of some Chinese airline companies, according to Han
Jun, director of the Foreign Affairs Division of the International Affairs and
Cooperation Department of the CAAC.
Rolls Royce has trained nearly 600 officials for CAAC
since the mid-1990s. A training center was established jointly in 1997, in which
they have trained more than 7,000 people and organized over 350 training classes
on technology and management.
Besides personnel training, Rolls Royce has also
supplied engines to Chinese airlines in the past six and a half decades and more
since 1942. There are currently five Chinese airline companies using more than
180 Rolls Royce engines.
Before the signing of the agreement, Chinese State
Councilor Chen Zhili met with Rolls Royce Chairman Simon Robertson and CEO John
Rose, whose entourages include the directorate of the company. CAAC General
Director Yang Yuanyuan also attended the meeting.
Rolls Royce, which attaches great importance to the
Chinese market, is also expected to hold the first directorate meeting in China
during its chairman's trip to the country. Enditem
