JINAN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Five people were confirmed dead when an arch bridge under construction collapsed Tuesday in east China's Shandong Province, the local government said Wednesday.

    The accident, which happened at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Wendeng, also left one person injured, said a spokesman for the city government of Wendeng.

    He said rescue work ended on Tuesday afternoon and investigation is still going on, giving no other details.

    Wendeng is a county-level city in Weihai, dubbed one of the country's most inhabitable cities on the east coast. Enditem
