Pakistan to continue support Bangladesh as SAARC chair

    ISLAMABAD, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Tuesday said it will continue to support Bangladesh in its efforts as the chair of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

    Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Riaz Rahman held talks at the Foreign Office here to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, the state-run news agency APP reported.

    Kasuri underscored the high priority that Pakistan attached to relations with Bangladesh and stressed the need to augment cooperation between the two countries to their mutual advantage.

    They reviewed matters relating to SAARC and reiterated Pakistan's continued support to Bangladesh in its efforts as the chair of the SAARC.

    They also discussed preparations for the forthcoming meeting of the SAARC council of ministers in Dhaka in August 2006. Enditem
