Israeli PM, Jordanian king to meet on Wednesday

    JERUSALEM, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Israel announced Tuesday night that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is to meet Jordanian King Abdullah II in Amman on Wednesday.

    Israel's Government Press Office said in a statement that the two leaders is scheduled to meet at 13:30 (1030 GMT) at the Royal Palace and will issue statements after the meeting. It gave no more details about the talks, second of its kind toan Arab country by Olmert since he was sworn in as prime minister in May 4.

    On Sunday, Olmert held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak at Egypt's Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh.

    At a joint news conference with Mubarak after the meeting, Olmert said that Israel is willing to negotiate with the Palestinians on the internationally-backed roadmap peace plan, but he did not give a specific date. Enditem
