BEIRUT, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Justice Ministry has said that an international tribunal might be established to try suspects in connection with the assassination of former Lebanese premier Rafik Hariri, the Daily Star reported on Tuesday.

"Important measures" had been adopted toward getting the court off the ground, the ministry said in a statement issued on Monday after a meeting between Justice Minister Charles Rizk and two Lebanese judges, Ralf Riachi and Choukri Sader, who are in charge of contact with the United Nations regarding the tribunal's establishment.

The meeting reviewed their talks with the UN regarding the tribunal's duties, legislation and relevant technicalities.

Hariri was killed in a massive bomb blast in Beirut on Feb. 14,2005.

A UN probe has implicated Syrian officials in the killing though Damascus has denied its role. Enditem
