LONDON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- A report on the July 7 London bombings issued Monday by the Review Committee highlighted errors that had hindered emergency services after the series of bombings that killed 52 and injured over 700 last year.

Communication was the major obstruction. The London Assembly report said radios did not work underground, Sky TV reported.

"It's unacceptable that the emergency services, with the exception of the British Transport Police, are still not able to communicate by radio when they are underground."

The committee urged to resolve the problem by the end of next year.

What's more, as people can imagine, the mobile phone network was highly congested after the bombing, with everybody trying to call family and friends about their safety condition.

Nonetheless, the emergency services still had to rely on mobile phones to communicate between their senior staff.

The assembly estimated that some 1,000 adults and 2,000 children have suffered post traumatic stress in the aftermath of the attacks.

The report therefore called for London's emergency plans to be changed to take into account the needs of survivors.

The report, issued after a six-month investigation, also criticized the setting up of the casualty bureau for the thousands of people who were worried about missing loved ones.

It also revealed that hundreds of people were allowed to walk away from the bombing scene without any details being taken or being offered trauma counseling.

London Ambulance Service was also blamed for lack of capacity to deliver equipment and medical supplies to sites of the bombing attacks. Enditem
