Pakistani soldier dies in rocket attack

    ISLAMABAD, June 5 (Xinhua) -- A Pakistani soldier was killed and another one injured when unidentified men fired rockets at a military checkpost in northwestern Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region, the local GEO TV reported on Monday.

    Rockets were fired at the checkpost at Garyum area in North Waziristan late last night, according to local reports.

    There was no immediate official confirmation of the attack, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

    This is the second attack on security forces in North Waziristan in two days.

    Two soldiers were killed and two others injured when an army convoy came under attack on Sunday near Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan, and a night curfew was imposed after the attack.

    In another attack, militants fired rockets at a checkpost at Gunjey Tekrey area of South Waziristan tribal region late last night. But there was no report of casualty. Enditem
