BEIJING, June 5 -- Renowned French director Luc Besson will arrive Shanghai at the end of this month to head the jury panel at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival.

Wu Kan, an officer in the international communication department of the film festival, revealed Sunday Luc Besson had expressed his intent to direct Chinese films or participate in the production of Chinese films.

The director will meet Chinese filmmakers and discuss filmmaking possibilities in China with the Shanghai Film Group.

Luc Besson will stay in China for nine days, mostly in Shanghai. On June 21, he will head to Beijing to attend a film screening event named "Visual France". He will also present the premiere of the film "Angel A" at the China Film Archive.

The Shanghai Film Festival will hold an exclusive film screening featuring the director's films. Wu revealed the screening is scheduled due to demand from Luc Besson's fans, not the director's request.
