KUNMING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers on Sunday found the bodies of two miners missing after a gas leak at Ni'er Coal Mine, in Southwest China's Yunnan Province, bringing death toll to five.

The mine in Xuanwei City collapsed at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday when poisonous gas escaped as 15 miners were digging a seam.

Rescue workers lifted 10 miners to safety and had recovered three bodies by Wednesday noon.

Each family of the five miners killed in the accident will receive compensation of 181,000 yuan (22,625 U.S. dollars), said sources with the local government.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is still underway. Enditem
