China delivers more aid to quake-hit Indonesia

    SOLO, Indonesia, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The first batch of China's 10 million yuan (1.25 million U.S. dollar) worth of relief materials for Indonesia's quake victims arrived in Indonesia's Solo airport Saturday afternoon.

    The goods include medicine, medical equipment, tents, sheets and power generators. The second batch will arrive here on Sunday.

    A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Yogyakarta and surrounding areas on May 27, killing over 6,000 people, injuring thousands of others and leaving nearly 200,000 homeless.

    Before sending the relief materials, the Chinese government had offered 2 million U.S. dollars of aid in cash to Indonesia and sent a 40-member relief team composed of seismological experts andmedical workers to the country's hardest-hit Bantul district. Enditem
