    Sepcial Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a police checkpoint near the Iraqi city of Baquba on Saturday, killing seven policemen and wounding 10 people, a police source said.

    The attack took place at about 1:00 p.m. (0900 GMT) when armed men opened fire at the checkpoint on the entrance of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity.

    Insurgents frequently attack Iraq's fledgling security forces, accusing them of collaborating with the U.S. occupation forces. Enditem
