    NEW YORK, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Two people were still missing and three others were rescued from water after a plane went down Friday in heavy fog about a half-mile short of the runway at Groton-New London Airport, Connecticut, a Coast Guard spokeswoman said.

    The three people pulled from the water were passengers who wereable to get out of the plane on their own. They were taken to a local hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. The two missing people were pilots.

    The plane, a Learjet 35, could hold 10 passengers and two crew members.

    Police said the plane went down about 2:30 p.m. and the airportwas closed about 10 minutes later. It is not clear whether the pilots had been in touch with the airport before the incident and whether any weather-related or mechanical problems had been reported.
