NEW YORK, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A leading global
provider of distribution facilities and services, ProLogis, announced on
Wednesday that an industrial park it was developing in China would be used as
the primary logistics and distribution center for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
ProLogis Park Beijing Airport had been designated as
the official distribution site for Olympics-related equipment and material by
the Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee, the company announced.
In addition to distribution, the organizing committee
will use the entire 1.08-million-square-foot (some 100,332 square meters) park
for warehousing, light assembly and administration of logistics operations.
"The Beijing Olympics are of enormous importance to
China, given the huge scale of the event and the prestige that will be conferred
on China as host country," said Ming Mei, ProLogis' managing director and head
of the company's China operations.
The park is located some 3 km from the Beijing
Capital International Airport cargo terminal and 15 km from Beijing's central
business district. Enditem
