Special report: Earthquake in Indonesia
JAKARTA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's quake-hit Yogyakarta looks alive
when lights partly returned to normal again Wednesday night after a disrupted
power supply in most parts of the city, the Antara News Agency reported
Thursday.
Saturday`s earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale which hit
Yogyakarta and parts of Central Java had cut off power supply.
Many people by motorcycles or cars went to shopping centers after the
normalization of power supply.
Street musicians entertained people in the heart of Yogyakarta city after
they dissappeared in the past few days.
Many guests, however, preferred staying at hotels like Mercure, Inna Garuda,
Novotel, Hyatt and Melia Purosani, which sustained minor damage.
Yogyakarta police are constant watching out for looters which had also
caused worry among quake survivors in camps.
"So far we have not received reports on infiltrators and lootings of
refugees' belongings But we have caught a man trying to steal a bicycle in
Imogiri," Brig Gen Aris Sampurna Jati, chiefof the Yogyakarta police said.
The quake has killed over 6,200 people and injured over 46,000 others, according the latest figures released by the Social Affairs Ministry. Enditem
