Former Indonesian president released from hospital

    JAKARTA, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Former Indonesian president Soeharto left the Pertamina Hospital in southern Jakarta Wednesday after a 27-day treatment.

    Soeharto's health condition was getting better since last Sunday, a presidential medical team's member said.

    Soeharto has been under medical treatment at Pertamina Hospital for two weeks for intestinal bleeding since May 4. He had a minor surgery to remove blood clot under his kin from an earlier operation. So far Soeharto has undergone three surgeries.

    Soeharto stepped down in 1998 when social and political chaos engulfed Indonesia. He has suffered several strokes since then. His lungs and kidneys have also been sources of medical trouble. Enditem
