Serbia, Montenegro vow to establish close ties

    BELGRADE, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Despite Montenegro's recent vote to become independent and end its union with Serbia, the two republics pledged on Saturday to forge the "best possible relations" as separate states.

    HELSINKI, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Montenegro could declare independence on July, according to Vuk Draskovic, the foreign minister of Serbia and Montenegro, during his visit in Finland Wednesday. Full story>>

EU calls on Serbia, Montenegro to launch direct dialogue on future

    VIENNA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) on Tuesday urged Serbia and Montenegro to launch a direct dialogue on their future relations after Montenegro voted for independence from the state union of Serbia-Montenegro in a recent referendum.

    In a statement issued by Austria, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency, the EU welcomed "the successful organization of the referendum on the independence of Montenegro last Sunday." Full story>>
