NEW DELHI, May 30 (Xinhua) -- A tragedy struck
picnicking school children Tuesday afternoon when an Indian Navy boat they were
in capsized in the Wullar lake in north Kashmir's Baramulla district drowning at
least 10 of them, police said.
"We have so far recovered bodies
of 10 children and search for more bodies is continuing. Police and
Navy divers have joined the search," Indo-Asian News Service quoted a senior
police officer assaying.
Rescue operations were still continuing, the police
said.
There were 23 children and a teacher aboard the boat
when it capsized.
The students of a school in Handwara, a north Kashmir
town, were on a picnic to the health resort of Watlab, bordering the Wullar -
Asia's largest fresh water lake.
They had boarded the Indian navy boat for a joyride,
the policeofficer said. Enditem
