BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Shanghai Cooperation
Organization (SCO) has always been an open organization that is not exclusive
and targets no third party, Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on
Tuesday.
Following the principle of openness and nonalignment,
the SCO has advocated a new security concept featuring mutual trust and benefit,
equality and cooperation, and adhered to the "Shanghai Spirit," said Hu.
The "Shanghai Spirit" embodies mutual trust and
benefit, equality, respect for cultural diversity and a desire for common
development, Hu told journalists from the six SCO member states.
The organization, established in 2001, comprises
China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Since 2004, it
has accepted Mongolia, Iran, Pakistan and India as observers.
A summit meeting of the heads of the six SCO member
states will be held on June 15 in Shanghai. Observers as well as representatives
from the countries and international organizations that have established
cooperative relations with the SCO will attend.
Hu said the SCO had official ties with the United
Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Commonwealth of
Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Community.
"A growing number of countries have expressed the
desire to establish ties with the organization," he said.
"Experience has shown that the SCO is an important
force in safeguarding regional and world peace and stability, enhancing
democratization of international relations and promoting regional and world
harmony," said Hu.
"The SCO will continue to take a constructive
attitude to seek consensus among the members and work with related countries to
maintain regional peace and stability and promote the common development and
prosperity of all countries in the region," said Hu. Enditem

Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, saying they will strengthen the c
apability to combat terrorism and maintain regional peace.
In a joint interview with media representatives from
the six member states, Hu said cross-border drugs crime remained one of the
major problems facing the SCO.
Chinese president anticipates successful SCO
summit
BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu
Jintao said Tuesday that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit
meeting on June 15 in Shanghai is expected to be a complete success.
"During the summit, the heads of the SCO member
states will have in-depth exchanges of views on mutually beneficial cooperation
and sign important documents," said Hu in a joint interview in Beijing with
media representatives from the six member states.
China to offer $900m loan for SCO member

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China has basically put
in place 900 million U.S. dollars worth of loans for other members of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Chinese President Hu Jintao said here
Tuesday.
The loans were made in the form of preferential
buyers credit for SCO member states who buy Chinese exports.
Established in 2001, the SCO now includes China,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In 2004 and 2005, the
SCO accepted Mongolia, Iran, Pakistan and India as observers.
China-Russia relations reach "unprecedented"
high: Hu
BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu
Jintao said here Tuesday that China-Russia relations have reached an
"unprecedented" high and are embedded with an "obvious strategic ingredient".
"Russia is one of China's most important strategic
and cooperative partners", Hu said in a joint interview with the media
representatives from the six member states of the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization (SCO).
