KABUL, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Clash and exchange of fire left eightmembers of
Taliban outfit dead as over 200 militants raided a police post in the southern
Ghazni province on Monday night, provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Sarjang
said Tuesday.
"Some 250 Taliban militias attack a police checkpoint in Abanddistrict last
night. Our forces retaliated and eight rebels were killed," Sarjang told Xinhua.
"The militias, after several hours of exchange of fire fled thearea," he
said, adding that no policemen were killed or injured inthe clash.
Taliban-linked insurgency have claimed more than 350 people lives mostly
Taliban militias over the past two weeks bringing thenumber of casualties to
some 600 since the beginning of this year.Enditem
