HONG KONG, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department had strengthened management control of the city's Western Wholesale Food Market, a spokesman for the department said here Tuesday.
Starting on Tuesday morning, all visitors and vehicles are required to register with the management staff before entering the market and more security staff have been deployed to enforce the registration rules.
The spokesman said the new measures could strengthen management control of the market to combat the landing and distribution off reshwater fish without health certificates and other crimes there.
The department held discussions with market tenants before the measures were implemented.
The new measures were first implemented in Cheung Sha Wan Wholesale Food Market in Kowloon on May 15. There had not been any notable change in the number of people and vehicles entering the market. Enditem |
