MANILA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday offered Indonesia its monetary assistance of 60 million U.S. dollars to help the earthquake-affected areas in Yogyakarta and Central Java in the country, an ADB report said.
The total amount consists of 10 million U.S. dollars in immediate grant assistance and 50 million dollars in soft loans for the Indonesian government, in order to meet the rehabilitation needs in the disaster areas, according to the report.
The ADB will work closely with the Indonesian government in assessing the loss, as well as the rebuilding needs, before it helps in implementing the consequent rehabilitation and reconstruction program, ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda told reporters after meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Yogyakarta.
Kuroda visited Tuesday the areas affected by the devastating earthquake in central Java. He also met with local government officials and some of those hardest hit by the natural disaster, the report said. Enditem
