KAMPALA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The rebels of the Allied Democratic Force (ADF) have killed a civilian, injured one and abducted two others in western Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a Ugandan military spokesman said on Tuesday.
Tabaro Kiconco, the spokesman of 2nd Division of Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) told Xinhua that about four ADF rebels attacked Nyabusozi village in Bundibugyo district and killed one, injured one and abducted two on Thursday last week.
He said that it is not yet known whether the two who were abducted are still alive or were killed by the rebels.
He said the rebels were in desperate search for food after the UPDF blocked all the avenues which they could use to get food.
The injured, Israel Bahemuka, 28, was admitted in Buhinga Hospital after an attack on his home.
"It was about 8:00 p.m. (1700 GMT) at night. About 14 men came to my home and after getting milk from me, they asked me to go with them," Bahemuka told local media.
Speaking in the hospital, Bahemuka said the assailants had maize flour that they asked him to carry to the bush with another villager, Kiiza Kaswara.
"I asked them to use the main road but angered the assailants and they used a machete to cut us. Our hands were tied with ropes," he said.
Bahemuka said after walking a long distance, they were asked to rest. Kaswara was killed, while Bahemuka sustained deep injuries on his head and back.
The ADF, who have been using their bases in eastern DRC to plan attacks against the Ugandan government, was chased out by the Congolese troops and the UN peacekeeping force, forcing them to flee the vast central African country and cross back to Uganda since March. Enditem
