XI'AN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- A three-truck pile-up on an expressway in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has killed two people and injured another three as of Tuesday, local traffic police said.
A truck on Monday crashed into a tanker carrying 40 tons of diesel on a section of a freeway linking the provincial capital of Xi'an to the city of Lintong, which was followed by an immediate collision of another truck loaded with some 60 tons of coal.
Two people were killed and three others were injured, including one who had a limb amputated in hospital.
The section of the expressway was under maintenance which caused a 4-kilometer vehicle queue when the tragedy occurred.
Police blamed the accident on the truck drivers who failed to take notice of the traffic conditions on the expressway. Enditem |
