Protestors on rampage in Afghan capital
KABUL, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government on Tuesday accused unknown agitators of involvement in the bloody riot that left dozens dead and more than 100 others wounded in the capital Kabul.

"Holding demonstration is the right of people in a democratic society. Unfortunately the agitators by exploiting the situation influenced the protesters and damaged public and private properties," Presidential spokesman Mohammad Karim Rahimi said at a press conference.

However, he declined to point finger at any particular group, saying "It was a complete agitation and we strongly condemn it."

In the fatal accident involving a U.S. military Humvee vehicle, according to the U.S. army sources, one civilian was killed and six others were wounded, while locals claim that up to 30 people were killed and more than 100 others wounded.

Meantime, Interior Minister Zarar Ahmad Muqbal confirmed seven deaths on Monday.

"A thorough investigation is underway. Any one found involved in the agitation would be seriously punished as the government do not allow any one to undermine the peaceful life of our people," Rahimi said. Enditem
