YINCHUAN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- An expressway remained blocked Tuesday morning after a tank truck turned over and caused LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) leakage Sunday afternoon in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, local police said.
The leakage was under control after rescuers stemmed the tank and managed to channel the gas and ignited it, police said.
The possibility of explosion was ruled out, but the fire was continuing Tuesday morning.
No casualties was reported in the accident that occurred on the Pingluo County section of the expressway connecting Shizuishan City to Zhongning County.
A tank truck carrying nearly nine tons of LPG fell off the roadbed after one of its front tyres burst at around 4:00 p.m. Sunday on the local expressway, causing the leakage.
The police blocked the expressway section immediately after receiving the report. Enditem |
