BEIJING, May 30 -- U.S. actor Nicholas Cage will star in the Hollywood remake of the Hong Kong-born Pang brothers' 1999 gangster thriller "Bangkok Dangerous," according to newspaper reports.
The twin brothers — Oxide and Danny Pang — will also direct the remake.
The film is due to start shooting in Bangkok in August, the South China Morning Post reported.
The brothers will inject new elements into the remake and may also cast Thai, South Korean and Hong Kong actors, Oxide Pang was quoted as saying at the Cannes Film Festival.
The newspaper quoted Danny Pang as saying Cage's character will speak, unlike the mute assassin seen in the original "Bangkok Dangerous."
Although born in Hong Kong, the Pang brothers enjoyed early success in Thailand. Among their other credits is the horror film "The Eye."
