Pakistan releases 71 Indian fishermen

    ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Monday afternoon released 71 Indian fishermen who will leave by train for their home via the Wagah border, according to Pakistan's state-run Associated Press of Pakistan.

    The Indian fishermen had been held in prison for the last threeyears on charges of illegal fishing in Pakistani waters before being handed over to Indian authorities, APP reported.

    Meanwhile, 59 Pakistani fishermen were handed over to Pakistan by India through the Wagah Border, and they are expected to travelback to Karachi by train, the APP report said.

    Earlier reports had said that Pakistan would hand over the 71 Indian fishermen to India on May 30. Enditem
