Chinese return from East Timor by chartered plane

     XIAMEN, May 29 (Xinhua) -- A chartered plane carrying 124 Chinese from riot-torn East Timor arrived at the Gaoqi international airport of Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province, at 21:21 Monday.

242 Chinese people leave Timor-Leste to escape riots

     DILI, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Altogether 242 Chinese people, mainly small-time businessmen, left here on Monday afternoon for Xiamen City, Fujian Province of China, leaving behind their shops and easy homes amid sporadic shooting, fire setting and looting.

China to evacuate Chinese citizens from East Timor

    BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- China will send a chartered plane on Monday to evacuate Chinese citizens from riot-torn East Timor as 200 citizens have sought shelter in its embassy.

    "As the situation in East Timor is deteriorating and some people have been killed or injured, the Chinese government will on Monday send a chartered plane to evacuate Chinese citizens there," said a statement released by Chinese Foreign Ministry. Full story>>
