ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani government confirmed on Monday that two of its nationals were killed in Iraq when their sleeping places in a U.S. military camp in Baghdad came under mortar attack on May 22.

The two Pakistanis were Nasar Iqbal Mattu, resident of village Kiranwala Matwan, Tehsil Gujrat (eastern Pakistan's Punjab province) and Muneer Ahmad, resident of village Krado Jewki, Tehsil Wazeerabad (Punjab), according to a statement issued by Pakistani Foreign Office.

"They were employed with a company and were working at the camp as laborer and electrician, respectively," the statement said.

Both succumbed to multiple injuries sustained by them in the attack, and their human remains are being transferred by Kuwait Airlines scheduled to arrive in Lahore, provincial capital of Punjab on 30 May, it added.

"The Ministry would also like to reiterate advice to Pakistanis not to travel to Iraq due to the difficult security situation," it noted. Enditem
