Senior Chinese official meets former Uruguayan president

    ĦĦBEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government is willing to further cooperation with Uruguay, senior Chinese official Jia Qinglin told former Uruguayan president Julio M. Sanguinetti here Monday.

    Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the two countries had expanded cooperation and further increased political trust and mutual understanding.

    The CPPCC had maintained contact with the Uruguayan parliament, Jia said.

    "We should further contribute to the expansion of cooperation and friendship between the two peoples," Jia said.

    He briefed Sanguinetti on China's economic and social development and the country's 11th five-year plan (2006-2010).

    Sanguinetti said he had made four visits to China and each time he noticed new developments.

    He promised to continue developing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. Enditem
