ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said that his government was taking every possible step for the promotion of sports, according to local newspaper The Nation reports on Monday.

    He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of All Pakistan Bridge tournament held here at Islamabad Club.

    He said that the government was investing maximum funds for the improvement of infrastructure and to ensure the enhancement of standards of games.

    He also promised to help in the promotion of bridge in the country as a major sport.

    "The players and officials should participate in the competitions with a lot of hard work and planning," he said. Enditem
