Special report: Earthquake in Indonesia

YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Adi Sucipto airport in Indonesia's Yogyakarta province resumed operation Monday, two days after being closed due to infrastructure damage during Saturday's earthquake.

Two passenger planes landed safely at the airport in the morning, followed by cargo planes belonging mostly to the military.

Local authorities have said top priority would be given to cargo planes carrying relief supplies and medicine for the victims.

The earthquake has cut the runway to 1,800 meters from normally 2,100 km. It also destroyed the air control tower and killed an airport official Saturday.

The death toll in the 5.9-magnitude quake has reached 5,152 in Yogyakarta and the Central Java town of Klaten as of Monday, according to a government report. Enditem
