Special report: Earthquake in Indonesia

    YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Death toll in Saturday's earthquake that struck central Java areas in Indonesia reached 5,136 on Monday.

    The central command for disaster management in Yogyakarta reported that 3,464 people died in Yogyakarta province and 1,672 casualties occurred in Central Java province.

    In Yogyakarta alone, the magnitude 6.2 tremor injured 5,159 people and flattened more than 12,000 houses to the ground.

    Material loss is estimated at 2.8 trillion rupiah (about 311.1 million U.S. dollars), said the report. Enditem
