BEIJING, May 29 -- Wayne Rooney will travel with the England team to the World Cup. When — or if — he plays remains unclear.

The Manchester United striker got the results Friday from a CT scan on his broken right foot — a good-news, bad-news medical report for England and its fans, who have agonized over the injury for a month.

Manchester United said Rooney would have another scan June 14, meaning he definitely will miss England's World Cup opener against Paraguay four days earlier and the second game against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15.
