BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Surinamese counterpart Runaldo Ronald Venetiaan on Sunday sent congratulatory messages to each other acknowledging the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries.
Hu said that relations between China and Suriname had
progressed smoothly, and their mutual understanding and friendship had grown
steadily since China and Suriname established diplomatic relations 30 years ago.
Bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the fields of
trade, culture and education had been fruitful and the two countries had showed
mutual understanding and mutual support in regional and international affairs,
Hu said.
It had been proven that developing long-term, stable,
and friendly cooperative links, and boosting exchanges at all levels and in all
areas between China and Suriname had been conducive to economic and social
development in the two countries, and was in the fundamental interests of the
two countries and their two peoples, said the Chinese President.
Hu said China was willing to work with the Surinamese
to promote relations between the two countries to a higher level.
In his message, Venetiaan said Suriname and China had
built a solid partnership based on mutual trust and respect in the past 30
years.
He said the two countries had been consistent
supporters of each other. They had successful worked bilaterally at both
regional and international levels, which, as a result, had strengthened the
friendly ties between the two countries, he added.
Venetiaan said Suriname would stick to the one-China
policy and he firmly believed that the relations between the two nations would
